Are you getting questions from fundraisers or leadership about possible risky donors? Are you unsure what your organization should do to vet potential donors? This session will explore the ethical quandaries organizations grapple with, discuss the basics of due diligence research, and provide resources and best practices to keep your organization out of the headlines.Gareth Griffin is an industry expert in fundraising ethics. He served on Apra’s Ethics and Compliance Committee from 2015-2019 and served as the committee’s chair from 2017-2019. Gareth is currently the Senior Director of Prospect Development at MIT, where he leads the Institute's prospect research, prospect management, philanthropic due diligence, and prospect data integrity programs. Before joining MIT, he was the Senior Director of Prospect Management & Analytics at Santa Clara University and Assistant Director of Prospect Management at UC Berkeley. Gareth is a former CARA member, and even served on the CARA board briefly before heading to Massachusetts. He is delighted to be presenting this webinar for CARA.
